Hi Queens,
As we continue in isolation, you may be starting to feel a little titchy within yourself and or with your partner. You may start to feel a range of strains bubble to the surface.
These feelings are totally valid and ok to have- remember that when you feel emotions, they are telling you something- and it is important to listen to them.
With many of us, continuing to have our routine disrupted – it can feel overwhelming. And then the thought of having to put one together accelerates these feelings even more so.
I myself, strive on routine so when my routine was disrupted I felt quite lost…
Have you also felt like that? or something similar?
You are not alone in feeling these feelings.
Being at home sitting with your emotions, running the day very much the same as each one before, brings up emotions and without being able to release them builds tension. This making you more sensitive and easily to react.
I was right there! feeling lost in routine, frustrated with my thoughts, and a tightness in my chest.
After a few days of waking up with resentment, I knew that I had to change. More importantly, I knew that it was up to me to make that change - to stop waking up and going straight into 'attack the day' mode.
I reflected on past days where I felt at my worst- snappy, frustrated, overwhelmed, and tempered. I wrote out 'why' I was feeling that specific emotion and what it was for that emotion to come up for me.
When I made my realisations- that I was starting my day off on the 'wrong' foot, having me feeling flustered, set the tone for the rest of the day. With my routine disrupted and the thought of having a never-ending long list of to-dos brought up overwhelm.
So, I was already flustered and overwhelmed, this really put me in a temper and a feeling of tension, before my feet had touched the floor.
From reflecting on why I was feeling these emotions, I discovered the underlying/ main reasons. For me to have a different outcome, I matched a simple and effective technique and tool to diffuse that specific emotion.
Out of the many ways to start the day with a calm head and in control, the 3 that I use I have found to be the most simple and effective to start the day with a calm mind, a relaxed body, totally in present state, full of zest and in control of how you run your day.
Here they are:
3 Tips to Start Your Day Calm and In Control
1.Breathe
Before you get up out of bed, instead of jumping out of bed and starting the day hot and flustered- I take a few deep breathes to get into present state and to calm my mind and body. Breathing is so simple yet so well essential to living… right?… but to use it as a way to slow ourselves and our world down is super powerful.
2.Write a to-do list
At a time when you feel as though there is so much more to do or you feel as though you need to do a whole lot more. Prioritising your day is so important.
It helps us with a mini structure and it also help you to stay focused on what needs to be done in that day- so you don’t feel like there’s such a lonnngggg list of to-dos and takes out the overwhelm
Prioritising 1-2 BIG things gives you room for all your everyday things; like family time, the essentials like housework, emails, appointments, fun-time, you-time to fall around your 1-2 BIG things
3. Turn up the volume!
That’s right put on your fave playlist and turn up the volume and sing it dance it groove it! Music is a great way to dust off any lingering feelings, puts you in a great state and gets the body pumping and flowing. This also enhances your energy levels. So, put on your tunes and get groovin’
Throughout the day, if you find that you are starting to feel flustered or overwhelmed...
I find that a change of scenery helps- even if it is just to the next room or out in your garden- this helps break your state of mind and gets you to focus on something else PLUS the movement helps stagnant energy to start to flow
Doing a workout is a great way to let off some steam- I usually do a quick 5-10min intense workout… but whatever you do is perfect for you.
Sometimes having a warm shower helps too- something about water I find is super soothing.
Remember you are a powerful Queen who is in control of your emotions.
Big love to you
xx
