Your True Self
Hannah Peberdy ♛
The other day while out with friends, we were reflecting on our healing journey. And during our chats, the question of “what did you wish you knew before you started healing?” came up.
This sparked wonderful reflective energy amongst us all.
Some shared having great resilience around starting, realising our versions of ‘rock bottom’ being the wake-up call that was needed to courageously step towards healing ourselves.
From the buzzing energy in the room from all the chatting. One of my friends said for her, healing is like the GREATEST act of self-love. And it totally is- because you are giving yourself permission, time, energy to completely focus on reconnecting to you, your centre, and paving your own way.
Throughout the conversations with these Queens, it came to light there were a few similar answers to the question. Below I share the top 5 main things we wish we had known before starting healing.
Top 5 main things to know when starting healing:
1) Healing is not a quick fix
Healing as we know it, is a journey, that it’s not like a light switch where you do one healing session or read a book or practice yoga for a term, and whollla you’re healed.
But more of an understanding and step knowing that once you start healing, you give permission and accept the journey, you understand that it is continuous and a consistent choice.
With healing, it is known that time plays an important role, so you can let things recalibrate, align and let things be inflow of time, all of which can be easier said than done.
Anyone else, been like… ughhh when is it going to happen?
I have definitely been there a few times, but this is where we trust the timing of it all, I myself say trust universal timing.
However, you want to view it- keep healing and trust in perfect timing it will happen.
2) Keeping an open-mind
find out what works for you, explore and keep an open mind. What works for one person or is hyped on about doesn’t have to work for you – be selective, but keep an open mind
To keep an open-mind sounds easy right?
But along the way, it might be tempting to revert back to past ways, because it feels as though nothing is happening instantly. This is echoing that healing is a journey and that all healing that you do does add benefit to your journey, but to find what works for you is where clarity comes in.
Clarity of what you want to heal. Understandably, there may be times where clarity lacks, so looking at what continuously pops up is an indication for it to be healed. And then choose the direction and the results that you want and match it with your finding information, coach, community, tools, etc to help you get there.
There will be times when it doesn’t match but keep the momentum and keep going because on the other side of it is what you want and where you want to be.
Keep up the momentum- you got this!
3) Staying your own course
Healing is in your own time, and things will come to you as you heal. At times it can feel that other people are ‘in front of you but stay your own course and keep on your own path of healing. The more healing you do, the quicker things will come to you.
And be proud of how far you have come and celebrate where you are going.
Well-known motivational Lisa Nichols says
“If you don’t celebrate yourself, no one else will and we are all under-celebrated. It’s so important to celebrate the micro-wins along the way because what gets celebrated gets repeated”.
SO celebrate that you have started and celebrate yourself along the way.
Celebrate each Queen you meet! Best thing is to celebrate with them how far they have come! Healing together is so wonderfully uplifting and together we rise.
It is amazing how quickly positive things happen to you when you celebrate others as much as you celebrate yourself.
4) Community is important
We all have found that community is a HUGE part of healing. Having support- a healing tribe has so many benefits while being on the rollercoaster of healing. They are your sistas, your fellow Queens, your support network- find them, connect with them, love them and cherish them
Here is what some of the Queens said about having a community:
5) Healing is layered.
This is something that we know that healing is more than just surface, that the layers of healing run deep into the past, even ancestral (that’s a whole different avenue).
And even though you know that there are layers of healing, it can somewhat feel overwhelming to think that it’s never-ending per say. However, to heal is learning about you- yourself and how to take back control of your actions, your mind, and ultimately your life.
Having a clear roadmap and a goal paired with consistent action steps takes out the overwhelm. Being in a community creates a sense of belonging and uplifts you on your journey. Having professional support such as a coach, mentor, a healer will get you where you want to be fast.
So even though healing is layered, you are surrounded by a vast amount of options and people to get you to where you want to be and work with you through the layers.
I love the layers because at each layer I learn something new about myself and or I finally let a part of me go- it is so freeing!
So, Queen, fall in love with healing and enjoy every moment of the journey
Xx
